Christmas Gifts

Despite the global credit crunch the retail ‘golden quarter’ is looking to be even bigger this year according to the Deloitte & Touche survey, the average spend per person is set to rise by 7% to a weighty £706 up from £662 in 2006.

The good news is that buying local has emerged as a strong trend, as consumers return to looking for gifts and food from independent local suppliers. 30% of those surveyed said they intend to shop locally more that they did last Christmas. This return to the high street is in part due to the expressed consumer demand for higher quality, premium gifts with a more personal touch.
